Tired of being cultural sensitive
Living in a foreign country (especially the UAE) opens your eyes to cultural differences & teaches you to be sensitive in your actions, behavior & words...
It is hard to watch yourself all the time & sometimes I am just tired of it and would like to be myself - without thinking, planning & strategizing. Its specially hard on days when you are surrounded by people who do not care about your cultural background or are so caught up in there own culture that they don’t even realize it.
One of the things which gets me every now and than is the use of a language not all people involved in a discussion/chat are able to master. You might laugh now & think "well you should be used to it by now" but I am not. I consider it as rude – no matter if you are a friend or not.
And if in the middle of their conversation a question in English is raised people expect that you answer straight away - I am sorry guys but I am not following your character salat!
